God Knew Best

— 05/01/10
From "Streams in the Desert" a portion that blesses me to read and try to hold on to it when life holds things I cannot understand. . .

"If I could push ajar the gates of life, and stand within, and all God's workings see.
I might interpret all this doubt and strife, and for each mystery, I could find a key.

But not today.  Be content, poor heart; God's plans, like irises pure and white, unfold,
I must not tear the close-shut leaves apart - time will reveal the calyxes of gold.

And when, after patient toil, I reach the land where my tired feet, with sandals loosed, may rest,
Only then shall I clearly know and understand, I think that I shall say, 'GOD KNEW BEST!' "
~ adapted ~

A lovely spot on our acres where I can enjoy all the beautiful irises and daisies
sprinkled in the field and remember
that God ALWAYS KNOWS BEST.

Thanks for posting this beautiful picture! We have been enjoying our Irises which a friend, Louise gave to me a couple of years ago. Louise is now in heaven enjoying the Beautiful "Rose of Sharon" along with her husband Russ Stair. I have a white one which bloomed heartlily this year. What an intricate piece of handiwork from God, our Creator!

I never think of irises as white, rather that deep dark purplish blue. Instead, I think of lilies as white. Was that, perchance, the adaptation you made?

    Marmee:
I have many many pure white IRISES :) They are beautiful - they have gold fuzzy centers - whatever those are called?
