ChickenLittle

— 05/22/10
It worked! I blogged a few weeks back about our homemade science project of the boys building Chelsey a little homemade incubator!!  She is know acting like "Mother Hen" to her new chicks!  She stayed up with the first hatching half the night and videoed the whole process - the video has 3:30 a.m. on the screen and we were knowing why she was taking a nap the next day!

We now have 6 adorable - but very messy - chicks peeping and hopping around in their box.

I was adamant about them letting the chicken eggs alone even though we could hear "peeps" coming from the egg.  It took hours and hours for them to finally come out on their own.
After seeing this on YouTube
she is waiting for a double-yolker to try out.  Oh boy!
This will be an adventure!
Our hens laid a double-yolker recently - Samuel just had to take a picture
of it with the other egg we had gotten that day from another hen. Quite an egg -poor hen but for now my blog WYSWIG is acting up horribly again so I cannot post the picture.  So now they are watching
daily for another one to appear so they can try it in the incubator.

Country life is wonderful!
