Over the Interstate and thru the woods to Grandpa's house we go. . .
— 12/08/07
We have just returned from a wonderful family trip to Grandpa's farm. My husband got some unexpected days off and so he walked in while we were at our schoolwork on Wednesday and said "Let's pack up and head to Grandpa's!" Whew! Life gets interesting when you are married to a "Greene" (oh...Greene's don't make plans!)
We had a great time especially since CIDER, Chelsey's brand new billy goat (1 week old) had to come along in a laundry basket lined with hay as she was bottle feeding him every 3 hours. It is pretty amazing that a minivan could hold all our stuff for 4 days, the children (mind you all 11 are not still at home and we usually just have 5 with us most of the time now!) and CIDER and her bottles, and Marmee and her stuff. I didn't have internet for the 4 days that we were gone but got my new sewing pattern, "CAMILLE" nearly all ready for the printing press. I had a lot of scanning and tweaking to do on the large pattern layouts so I got it all done...as I didn't have the normal daily distractions and schedule. whooohooo!
My husband got a doe on Friday and Ezra (12 y.o.) got one on Thursday so we also were able to fit the cooler full of venison and ice in that amazing minivan too! We were packed in there like sardines! Thank goodness it is only a 3 hour trip!
The children LOVE LOVE LOVE going to Grandpa's farm. He has 2 large ponds full of large catfish and bream and bass. 250 acres to hunt and roam or should I say 'zoom' around. He has 2 golf carts and every minute he will allow them the keys - they are on it. It is a really fun treat for them. They did a mini video of their leaf dives with the zoomer cart. It is wonderful fun for them.
CIDER had to be fed before we headed out :) and she slept the whole trip in the car until we got there!
